At the Palmerston North Sakura Festival 19th September, one of the stalls was called "Cancer Society Charity Bazaar", organized and run by parents of IPC students from Japan. Participating third time this year, the parents received donated goods from more than 20 people, amongst them an IPC graduate who helped running the bazaar last year.
Joined by 2 more parents who came to help for the day, the families were ready at the stall since early morning. They put the tags and arranged the art and craft goods on the tables, small accessories in boxes, and clothes on cloth hangers. The stall attracted many people form local and international students alike and most of the goods were sold by the end of the day.
The parent's bazaar managed to reach a total sale of NZ$1488. It was turned into a cheque and donated to the Cancer Society Manawatu Centre. A representative from the Cancer Society, Faye James, said, "We are touched by the kindness shown by the parents from Japan. Thank you very much."
