With the winter coming to an end one sign of the coming spring can be seen all around IPC campus – daffodils. This yellow flower is used by the New Zealand Cancer Society as a symbol of hope and recovery from cancer.

"Daffodil Day" is one of the Cancer Society's fundraising events, held in places all around New Zealand. Every year in the last week of August, volunteers sell fresh daffodils and other daffodil merchandise and collect donations. The money is used by the Cancer Society to assist cancer patients and their families, and to fund their research and education campaigns.

This year, Daffodil Day fell on 28th August. At IPC, student volunteers could be seen walking around the campus, selling the fresh flowers and merchandise such as pins, balloons and windmills.

One of the volunteers, Wilda Ribka, a first year student from Indonesia commented, "I've always wanted to do something for the community and Daffodil Day was the chance to do so. I think IPC students should do more similar activities."
