A New Position as Rugby Coach for IPC Dean
Farewell to the Dean of the Faculty of International Studies (DISS/EOC), Peter Finch
By Shirley Ghozalli. Edited by Moira Blake.
During the afternoon of Wednesday 27th May, IPC staff members gathered to farewell the Dean of the Faculty of International Studies (DISS/EOC), Peter Finch. After working at IPC for more than four years, Peter decided to make his dream come true by accepting a position as a rugby coach in Manchester in the UK.
Peter has been involved in academic activities as a lecturer and in Student Support, as well as in many activities outside the classroom as the Education Outside the Classroom (EOC) Co-ordinator. EOC is a program where students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of cultural events, activities, sports and hobbies, both on campus and in the wider community. These events and activities provide many real opportunities for students to speak English, learn about New Zealand culture and increase their confidence levels. Click here for more details about EOC.
In his farewell speech, Peter gave a lively description of his upcoming job training 30 rugby team members. He expressed his gratitude for the experience he gained working at IPC and was sure that this experience would be very useful in his new coaching role.
After Peter had been given a farewell gift, the final touch came from the EOC team in the form of DVD showing Peter involved in a wide varierty of activities during his time at IPC.
All the staff wished him all the best for his new position.
