President Wayne Edwards took the opportunity to inform the Mayor about the upcoming 20th anniversary of IPC’s establishment. The President conveyed his commitment to improving the quality of education in the English programmes and Education Outside the Classroom at IPC. He emphasized that, with the number of students studying at IPC increasing every year, collaboration between IPC and the local community is essential for the students’ experience and growth. Moreover, IPC, working together with the City Council, would be able to make a bigger event of the Sakura Festival, which is held annually in September at IPC and usually attracts many people from the community.
On behalf of Palmerston North city, Mayor Jono Naylor commented that over almost two decades IPC has played an important role in globalizing Palmerston North city. IPC students have helped the people of the community of Palmerston North to learn how to accept other cultures and contributed significantly to the city's wide range of cultural diversity. "Our door is always open. Please let us know if there’s anything the city can do to help," said the Mayor.
Both the IPC President and the Palmerston North Mayor are looking forward to developing the next phase of collaboration between the city and IPC.
