To celebrate the end of the second term on Friday, 28th November, an event "IPC Awards Ceremony" was held at the Recreation Centre. This yearly event is a venue where IPC gives tributes for the year's achievements of the students and staff members. Not only the students' academic achievements awards, such as the highest TOEIC score and the perfect attendance, there were awards for various achievements such as for the most active in sports and clubs activities, and the best event organizer.
A notable award for the Best Student of the Year went to Mika Miyazaki (a 2005 student) for the second time consecutively. Mika managed to keep up her study and stay active in clubs activities while holding the position of IPC Student Association President.
IPC Ball followed right after the Awards Ceremony. The students from countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan and Tahiti got up on the stage group per group and dance the dances from their own countries.
Some groups of students also taught the dance movements to the others on the dance floor so everyone could dance together to the music. One of them was the Indonesian group who performed a popular Indonesian folk dance called 'Tari Poco-poco' from Sulawesi/Celebes island. Led by 2 main dancers on the stage, the crowd followed the movements and danced in lines.
As the tradition of every ball, there were also Prince-Princess and King-Queen of the Ball. Khanh Ngoc 'Nee' Le, a 2005 student and graduating this year, was elected as the Princess of the Ball. "I had the biggest surprise in my life - the Princess in the Ball Party 2008. I never forget this feeling. Thank you very much for all organizers. I hope IPC will have a fantastic Ball Party next year."
Indah Mayasari (a 2007 student) expressed "It was the most fun party I have ever attended at IPC!" While Jordan Te Kani (also a 2007 student) commented "The ball was a great night full of excitement not only for the students but for everyone involved. It was great to see all the cultures socialising on the dance floor. The highlight of the night for myself was the free food and drink that could be enjoyed by all who attended. (It was) Overall a good night".
