IPC Student Association Assembly
By Emu Izaki and Shirley Ghozalli
On 11th July, IPC's Student Association (SA) held a Student Association Assembly at the Recreation Centre building on campus.
The SA President, Mika Miyazaki (a 2005 student), opened the assembly with a welcome speech. Next came the announcement of the winner of the "SA Logo Contest". This was Jun Yamada (a 2005 student) with his submission of a colourful rainbow logo design. The prize, a t-shirt with the new SA logo, was handed to Mr. Yamada by the SA President herself.
Then the SA Committee members were introduced one by one and their duties were explained. This was followed by the introduction of the representatives of the countries from which IPC students come. Each representative greeted the audience in her/his own language. These representatives are selected so that SA can cross over the language and culture barriers to gather opinions from all IPC students, who come from many countries.

Next, an announcement about counter measures to deal with computer viruses was made by IPC's IT Manager/ Student Support Manager, Mr. Maurice McFarlane. After the announcement, Mr. Peter Finch, Dean of FIS (DISS & EOC), appealed to the students for their cooperation in preparing for "Sakura Festival" which is going to be held in September this year. Mr. Finch also played a video featuring last year's festival.
The assembly closed with a small celebration for the current term's graduating students. Each would-be-graduate was called to come up on the stage and receive a bouquet of flowers from the junior students and the staff.
The SA President, Mika Miyazaki, said "We (SA) are going to hold more assemblies (like this) which will be enjoyable and useful for everyone. I hope you will join us in our assemblies from now on."
