On 20th June, the magician, Mr. Shoot Ogawa, visited IPC. As well as performing magic on many television programs, Mr. Ogawa has won the world competitions more than 10 times. Mr. Ogawa, who lives in California, has been invited to come to places around the world to teach magic.
On this occasion, according to our source, Mr. Ogawa is scheduled to give lectures about magic in 5 venues in Australia and 3 venues in New Zealand. On his short visit to the biggest magic fans community in the southern part of the North Island, "Palmerston North Magic School", Mr Ogawa stopped by at IPC, before heading to the airport to catch his plane to Christchurch, where he will give his next lectures.
After having a tour around the campus, guided by students, Mr. Ogawa performed a wonderful magic show, using cards, ropes and coins at lunchtime in the crowded dining hall. Each time the coin, which had been placed inside a student's fist, vanished or multiplied, a surge of cheers came from the crowd. Removing a coin from under a stack of cards without anyone knowing, connecting the ends of the ropes into a circle in an instant, then breaking it into several pieces were some of the tricks which he performed continuously. While doing these magic tricks, Mr. Ogawa had a friendly conversation in English with the students who were rapidly gathering around him.
After finishing the show, Mr.Ogawa's closing remark to the completely fascinated students, who gave him a big round of applause, was "I wish the audiences of my shows could always be like you."
