Postgraduate Diploma of International Studies (PDIS)

Students who do not wish to enrol in our full masters programme can do the one year Postgraduate Diploma of International Studies. This qualification comprises the five papers taken in the first year of the MIS and is completed over three-terms. These five papers provide students with interdisciplinary philosophy, knowledge, methodologies, and a common interdisciplinary approach to issues.

The first four papers focus on developing the ability to critically assess the outlook, contribution and limitations of each disciplinary paradigm. The synthesis of different views and approaches across disciplines is emphasised. While the papers are focused on particular disciplinary areas, careful and deliberate cross linkages are developed and explored.

In the first year of study, a common methodological approach, along with the communication, interpersonal and group dynamic skills are adopted for effective interdisciplinary work. The papers develop interdisciplinary skills progressively using case studies which are sequenced across the papers to provide for reflection and progression. Postgraduate class.
