Foundation Education
Foundation Education provides a continuous course of language, computer and study skills development required for high achievement in tertiary studies over four years.
Unique English Education Programme
English is fundamental to studying in an English speaking country. It is important to have a high level of reading, listening, writing and speaking to be successful in a tertiary institution. In the Foundation Education Programme, students are divided into small classes according to their level and develop their English skills to the required level to achieve tertiary qualifications. Along with the academic English skills they will develop conversation skills, which are vital in everyday life in English speaking countries.
IPC offers the Foundation Education programme for the first year, for students to gain basic skills such as English proficiency related to specific areas of study and study skills, including critical thinking for tertiary level.
Study Outside the Classroom
Study of English is not limited to inside classrooms. Students have opportunities to learn and use English in many occasions such as in halls where students from all over the world live together, activities in the local community, internships and homestay.
Study Skills
Students need study skills to benefit effectively in their learning. How can you clarify what you want to know, and collect information and put it into a logical order? Where would you gain the information? Is the information adequate? Is the opinion of yours or others biased in some way? Is the drift of the argument clear? It is your responsibility to be an active learner when you are studying at a tertiary level. Gain knowledge for yourself and do not necessarily believe everything you are told.
